Mark Hancock - Business Manager

Mark Hancock is our Business Manager. His job is to make sure the administrative operations of the church run smoothly, so that our pastoral staff can focus on our spiritual development and the ministries of our church.

Mark's varied background as entrepreneur and business owner for over 20 years provided him with the necessary background and skill sets he needed for his present position. As the creator and operator of Fort Worth's first commercial bed & breakfast for 12 years, Mark learned several practical approaches to the art of blending hospitality, service, marketing and business administration. As the former owner of a truck brokerage business for 15 years, he learned to merge logistics with integrity while keeping track of the cash flow. And as a commercial real estate appraiser for 10 years and an urban planning consultant for 3 years (in his more youthful days), he learned how to help translate vision and dreams to real-world concepts. Mark likes to consider himself the "Business Minister" for the church family, helping the congregation's stewardship of their financial resources result in effective connectional ministry.

Music Ministry

RHUMC is dedicated to bringing the word of Jesus Christ through the song and voice. We pride ourselves in having the finest ensemble of musical talent assembled in our church to accomplish this goal.

Jeanene Craig - Director of Music Ministry

Jeanene Craig was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She began piano study at the age of five and participated in numerous piano guild competitions though high school. While attending Carter Riverside High School, she became the choir accompanist and enjoyed this responsibility all four years. During her junior year, she was encouraged by the high school choir director to enter the University Interscholastic League vocal competition, and received a superior rating. This along with the encouragement of the choir director, persuaded her to investigate the possibility of studying voice and becoming a vocal major in college. Upon applying to Texas Christian University, she received a half-tuition scholarship from the vocal department, which along with other scholarships from clubs and organizations, made it possible for her to attend the university. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree with dual concentrations in voice and piano, from Texas Christian University in 1979 and Master of Music in vocal performance in 1986. She performed many operatic roles and concerts at TCU, and also sang with the Fort Worth and Dallas Operas during this time.

While attending college, she felt the desire to express the word of God through music. Since birth she had been a Methodist and had experienced a long family heritage through her great grandfather's ministry as a Methodist preacher. She began to look for jobs in music ministry aligned to the Methodist Church. She became the Assistant Director of Music at First United Methodist in Fort Worth. After remaining for one year, she then became the Director of Music at Edge Park United Methodist Church where she remained two years before coming to Richland Hills United Methodist Church. She has enjoyed many years of service to Richland Hills United Methodist Church and has seen much growth and enthusiasm for music while being here. She recently celebrated her twenty-fifth year of service to the church in August of 2004.

Candiss Krug - Organist

Candiss Krug was raised in the Texas Panhandle. Growing up in Amarillo, her mother gave piano lessons in the home so naturally, Candiss always played the piano. The family was active in the Baptist church and while her mom worked on children's choir business, Candiss went in to the organ and began experimenting with the different sounds. She got the church organist to tell her how to play the pedals and began practicing regularly. She also sang, and won a Superior Rating at the Baptist Music Festival in Glorieta, NM for singing "His Eye is on the Sparrow."

She won a scholarship to study at the Amarillo Musical Arts Conservatory and had private lessons in voice and organ. Her teacher was a devout Christian who always said that musical gifts are from God and should be used to His glory.

At Canyon High School Candiss was active in choir and drama and had leading roles in plays and musicals, as well as accompanying many of the choirs. She took top awards in UIL competitions and also NATS (National Assoc. of Teachers of Singing) annual competition. She became organist at First Christian Church in Canyon, pianist for the Lions Club, & an accompanist at WTSU. For four summers, she traveled to Eureka Springs "Opera in the Ozarks" camp and studied under various teachers and conductors and sang in the opera festivals. Upon high school graduation, she accepted a full scholarship to study voice at Texas Woman's University in Denton under Joan Wall. She also took piano and organ lessons and accompanied for various campus activities and churches. Singing was always a passion, but playing piano or organ were always a great link to jobs! Candiss sang several leading roles in operas and musicals at both TWU and the Denton Community Theatre and represented TWU at NATS and the Met Opera regional auditions. She graduated cum laude and was named "Performer of the Year", and received the annual Lehman Award for "outstanding artistic achievement."

Candiss has served in churches most of her life, fulfilling her mother's proclamation that "God always has a place for good musicians!" She served in various capacities at First UMC, Weatherford; University UMC, Ft. Worth; and Wm. C. Martin UMC in Bedford. She has been Organist at Richland Hills UMC since August 2005 and thoroughly enjoys the job and the people of the church.

Her family includes husband, Mark; daughter, Jessica (TTU grad) and son-in-law Joe Dougherty; and son, Matthew (a 2010 graduate of Richland High School). Candiss is also a substitute teacher in Birdville ISD and accompanies many band and choir students throughout the metroplex.
